IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: County Planners Remove Log Cabin Road Extension
At their July meetings, both the Transportation Policy Board and the Thurston Regional Planning Council voted unanimously to unplan this road. Thanks again to the 300+ people who submitted public comments to keep this road out of the LBA Woods and out of the county’s Regional Transportation Plan.
There is a "however" to this victory. During the City of Olympia's Traffic Connectivity Study (to occur around 2030) the road and possibly a multi-modal trail will be considered (merely considered) as options for mitigating potential future east-west traffic congestion between Lacey and Olympia. The need for any solution isn't anticipated until at leats 2040.
It was clear that our elected and appointed officials heeded the opposition of 300 community members. With fans of LBA Woods growing exponentially each year, we have no doubt the votes will remain solidly and unanimously against a road through the woods.
